A drone on site every day, without sending a pilot
DAAS serves wherever a remote site needs a flight on a daily or regular basis: the drone takes off from the dock, performs the planned mission and returns, while the ReADI Control Center follows the operation remotely. Video surveillance is the most frequent use, not the only one.

Video surveillance of sites and perimeters
Scheduled patrols during high-risk hours and verification of alarms from sensors, VMS or AI Agent, with escalation according to your procedure.

Photovoltaic plants
Recurring thermal inspections of strings and inverters and site presence without staff in the field.

Periodic inspection of sites and infrastructure
Same route, same capture points, at regular intervals: data that can be compared over time for plants, construction sites, networks and distributed assets.

Recurring activities at remote sites
Mapping, surveys and checks that today require a trip every time: with the dock on site they become a calendar mission.
- Visual inspections
- Thermal inspections and thermography
- Mapping and photogrammetry
- Alarm verification and deterrence
- Air quality analysis — sensor payload on request
Hiring a drone with pilot or managing it in-house: what it really costs
The hardware is the easy part. The rest is a department: certified people, shifts that cover the night, an authorisation process lasting months and a liability that stays with you.
To cover shifts, holidays and on-call duty for continuous presence.
Between training, authorisation paperwork, operational testing and internal procedures.
The minimum to cover continuous operations, before any flight.
| Parameter | DAAS service | In-house management |
|---|---|---|
| BVLOS authorisations | 12 days | 30–40 days after the process |
| Total go-live time | 12 days | 200–280 days |
| Pilot training | Not required | Min. 3 certified pilots |
| NOTAM and airspace management | Included | Customer's responsibility |
| Hours of coverage | H12, H16 or H24 from the Control Center | Internal shift rota |
| Internal resources absorbed | None | 4–5 people |
| Scalability to new sites | Immediate | Complex |
| Operational and regulatory risk | DroneBase | Customer |
In-house management figures: indicative DroneBase estimate based on experience in launching BVLOS operations from docks. Actual timelines depend on the site and the organisation.
From request to report: what happens behind every mission
ReADI is the standard channel for requesting, taking charge of, planning, tracking and documenting the status and evidence of missions. The Control Center flies the drone and follows the procedure we write together during onboarding.
Scheduled or On-call
Request the mission from ReADI: with at least 24 hours' notice (Scheduled) or with less than 24 hours (On-call, in the profiles that include it).
Taking charge
The Control Center checks resources, system status, weather, local conditions and, where applicable, the activities required for airspace use.
Mission or verification
Scheduled patrol, inspection or alarm verification: the operator follows the flight in visible and thermal view and classifies the event.
Your procedure
In the event of a real incident: audio deterrence and the contacts set out in your plan, from the security team to law enforcement.
Reports and data
Status, georeferenced video, images and actions taken remain tracked in ReADI and are delivered in the mission report.
A request does not constitute automatic authorisation to execute: every mission remains subject to the applicable technical, operational, weather, regulatory and safety conditions.

In the event of structurally higher usage than the subscribed profile, a Capacity/Pricing Review is carried out, with a possible upgrade to a higher profile or to Enterprise.
Scheduled At least 24 hours' notice
The ≥ 24 h value is the minimum notice required from the customer, not a guarantee of execution within 24 hours. The notice allows the Control Center to plan resources, check systems, complete safety checks, assess weather and local conditions and carry out airspace-use activities. Scheduled profiles are designed for planned activities and include only a limited tolerance for On-call requests.
Flex · On-call Less than 24 hours
The Control Center takes charge of the request and activates accelerated planning. Flex does not mean guaranteed immediate take-off: execution depends on shared capacity and remains subject to resources, weather, system status, safety, airspace availability and any authorisations. Flex reduces the notice required; it does not guarantee a set activation time: guaranteed times require an Enterprise profile with an agreed SLA.

What is drone as a service for surveillance and inspections?
It is a service in which the dock, drone, pilots, authorisations, LUC governance, platform and Control Center remain with DroneBase and the customer receives the missions on their own site. You do not buy a drone: you buy flight capacity, event verification and mission evidence.
Is it better to hire a drone with a pilot or use DAAS?
Hiring a drone with a pilot is suited to occasional work and requires a person on site. DAAS monitors or inspects the site remotely on a regular basis: the drone takes off from the dock and the Control Center conducts the mission. For daily or recurring activities you do not depend on the availability of a pilot on site.
What is the difference between a Scheduled mission and an On-call (Flex) mission?
Scheduled is requested at least 24 hours before the desired window; the notice is used to plan resources, safety checks, weather and airspace. On-call is requested with less than 24 hours' notice and triggers accelerated planning. In both cases execution remains subject to operating conditions: Flex does not guarantee immediate take-off.
Are there guaranteed response times?
Subscription Flex profiles reduce the notice required but do not guarantee a set activation or execution time. Guaranteed times, reserved capacity and priority require an Enterprise profile with an agreed SLA.
What happens in the event of bad weather, NOTAMs or airspace restrictions?
Weather conditions, technical unavailability, airspace restrictions, NOTAMs, emergencies, local conditions or other safety constraints may lead to rescheduling, suspension or non-execution of the mission. The Control Center keeps you updated via ReADI.
How do Flight Wallet credits work?
You purchase from 10 to 200 credits valid for 12 months and keep the service active with a monthly fee. A DAY mission is worth 1 credit, a NIGHT mission 2 credits. Only Scheduled missions with at least 24 hours' notice are allowed. On top-up, 50% of the remaining credits is transferred to the new Wallet, rounded down; credits already transferred cannot be carried over a second time.
How long is the contract?
Subscription profiles are based on a 12-month fee. The Flight Wallet has credits valid for 12 months and a monthly access fee. Enterprise and LUC Managed are sized to the customer and governed by the agreed operations plan.
What happens if I exceed my profile's Fair Use?
Monthly limits are commercial Fair Use rules. In the event of structurally higher usage than the subscribed profile, a Capacity/Pricing Review is carried out, with a possible upgrade to a higher profile or to Enterprise.
Is there an activation cost?
Yes, a one-off start-up cost covering installation, integration with the Control Center and monitoring centre, and commissioning. It depends on the site and is quantified after the site survey.
Is maintenance included?
Maintenance is optional in the Flight Wallet and Subscription profiles and included in the Enterprise and LUC Managed profiles. When active, it covers remote diagnostics, preventive and corrective maintenance and on-site interventions according to the contractual service levels.
What does the operations centre do when an alarm is triggered?
It launches the verification mission, observes the location in visible and thermal view, classifies the event and, if it is real, activates deterrence and the contacts set out in the escalation procedure agreed with you.
What are ReADI-USSP and ReADI-U-Space?
ReADI-USSP is the integration of the platform with the d-flight USSP, to connect the UAS operations workflow to the available USSP digital services; it is included in the Enterprise profile. ReADI-U-Space is a design service for the creation and implementation of a U-space airspace, optional for all models.
Can we use our own pilots?
Yes, with the LUC Managed Operations profile: first-level piloting is carried out by your pilots, while DroneBase provides the platform, LUC governance and the second-level ReADI Control Center according to the agreed operations plan.
Can I switch from DAAS to purchasing the system?
Yes. You can start as a service and, once you have your site's data, consider purchasing the system or switching to LUC Managed to bring operations in-house.
