The IMSI-X04 is an advanced mobile-phone-based missing persons search system that enables the localization of missing people, hikers, avalanche victims, earthquake victims or people affected by natural disasters by using the signal from their mobile phone. The operating principle is simple yet extremely effective: the payload installed on the DJI Matrice 400 drone simulates a legitimate cellular base station, causing nearby mobile devices to connect automatically. When the missing person’s phone connects to the system, the IMSI-X04 records its IMSI code, measures signal strength (RSRP/RSCP) and, by cross-referencing the data with the drone’s GPS position, calculates the estimated location of the victim.
Like the Life Seeker by CTC, the IMSI-X04 can detect mobile phones within a range of over 1 km during flight, while offering distinctive advantages: 100% native integration with DJI Matrice 400, 4 simultaneous SDR channels, complete 2G–5G SA coverage including the latest 5G Standalone standard, the ability to operate in parallel with the DJI Zenmuse H30T camera for visual and thermal target verification, dual-use UAV/Backpack mode convertible in seconds, and massive detection capacity of up to 3200 terminals simultaneously. It also works where traditional search technologies fail: in areas without cellular coverage, under rubble up to 8 meters deep, in tunnels, dense forests, avalanches and flooded areas.
The system can search for a specific IMSI number using Locate mode, monitoring real-time signal strength variation to guide the drone toward the target with accuracy up to 10 meters. Alternatively, in Detect mode, it can discreetly detect all mobile phones within the search area, providing the SAR coordinator with a complete map of active devices to identify presences in theoretically uninhabited zones.
The IMSI-X04 is an advanced cellular intelligence system designed to operate in UAV-borne configuration on the DJI Matrice 400 platform, optimized for tactical, operational and law enforcement missions. In addition to missing persons search, the unit allows operators to search, identify, track and geolocate mobile devices by acquiring their IMSI codes, supporting scenarios ranging from discreet surveillance to critical event management, hostile-area reconnaissance and aerial security operations.
The system is built around a high-performance SDR (Software-Defined Radio) platform, providing high flexibility in radio protocol management, spectrum analysis and dynamic configuration of network parameters. It is compatible with a broad set of cellular standards (GSM/2G, UMTS/3G, LTE/4G, 5G NSA and 5G SA), ensuring continuous operation even in multi-technology infrastructures or where the network is partial, degraded or unavailable.
Thanks to its highly integrated design, the IMSI-X04 delivers rapid deployment, minimal calibration requirements and complete interoperability with the DJI Matrice 400 mission workflow. Its multi-channel architecture enables simultaneous scanning across different bands and ARFCNs, rapid identification of specific targets, blacklist/whitelist management and high-sensitivity operation both in complex urban environments and wide-area scenarios. The electronics are optimized for in-flight stability, RF interference resistance and operational continuity even in adverse conditions.
The XP3-Locator software application, based on Android OS, can run directly on the DJI remote controller or on a rugged tablet. It integrates maps, EO/IR video, telemetry, mission parameters, GPS and IMSI results into a single screen, eliminating the need to switch between different interfaces during the mission.
The IMSI-X04 supports three different deployment modes to cover every operational scenario: two DJI Matrice 400 mounting configurations, horizontal and vertical, and one ground Backpack mode. Drone installation is one-click through quick rails A and B integrated into the payload body. Switching from one mode to another takes only seconds and requires no tools.
The system offers the flexibility to operate in two complementary modes within the same missing persons search mission. In UAV configuration, the DJI Matrice 400 drone inspects wide areas from above, detecting nearby mobile phones with an operating range of over 1 km, with full control via the app on the remote controller. Once the target has been identified through the missing person’s specific IMSI, the IMSI Catcher payload can be removed from the drone in seconds and used on the ground with the optional BackPack kit, controlled via a Samsung Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro 5G rugged tablet with dedicated application.
On DJI Matrice 400, the IMSI-X04 can operate in parallel with the DJI Zenmuse H30T camera, using the drone’s two independent E-Port slots. The synergy between IMSI Catcher and multi-sensor camera is not just a combination of features: it is an integrated operational workflow that moves from electronic mobile-phone detection to visual confirmation of the subject and precise GPS coordinate determination.
The IMSI Catcher IMSI-X04 4CH for DJI Matrice 400 is a professional mobile-phone-based missing persons search system and airborne cellular intelligence platform. The device simulates a legitimate cellular base station to attract nearby mobile phones, acquire their IMSI code and calculate their GPS position by analyzing signal strength. Like Life Seeker, the system can detect mobile phones within a range of over 1 km during flight, with the advantage of 100% native integration with the DJI Matrice 400 drone. Built around a high-performance SDR (Software-Defined Radio) platform, it integrates 4 independent RF channels with 2 W output power per channel and integrated directional antennas with 7–12 dBi gain. Compatible with GSM/2G, UMTS/3G, LTE FDD/TDD (4G), 5G NSA and 5G SA, it operates on the 700 MHz–2.7 GHz and 3.3–3.8 GHz bands, ensuring detection capacity of up to 3200 terminals simultaneously with scanning speed of 800 IMSI/minute. Locate mode enables the search for a specific IMSI number and guides the drone toward the target with accuracy up to 10 meters. The 2.3 kg payload, measuring 242×155×102 mm, interfaces directly with the DJI Matrice 400 datalink, providing datalink range up to 20 km (CE/SRRC/MIC) or 40 km (FCC) in unobstructed conditions. The system can operate in parallel with the DJI Zenmuse H30T multi-sensor camera for visual and thermal verification of the detected target and precise position determination via laser rangefinder. It also works in areas without network coverage, indoors, in tunnels, under rubble up to 8 meters deep and in any weather condition, making it ideal for missing persons search, SAR operations, civil protection, law enforcement and tactical public-safety operations. DroneBase, DJI Gold 5 Dealer and ISO 9001:2015 certified company, provides installation, initial configuration, 8-hour operational training at its headquarters and specialized remote technical support to ensure maximum operational effectiveness in real-world scenarios.
The DJI Matrice 400, a reference enterprise drone for professional and government applications, is the reference platform for the IMSI-X04 thanks to its 3 kg maximum payload, extended endurance, redundant safety systems and simultaneous multi-payload support.
DJI Matrice 400 drone and DJI Zenmuse H30T camera not included. Available as optional accessories. Optional BackPack kit: semi-rigid case, integrated power system with 2h autonomy, perpetual XP3-Locator software license, Samsung Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro 5G rugged tablet.
