The MicaSense RedEdge-P represents the evolution of aerial multispectral imaging for precision agriculture and environmental monitoring. This professional multispectral camera combines five narrow spectral bands with a high-resolution panchromatic sensor, offering pan-sharpened resolution up to 2 cm per pixel, double that of traditional systems. With global shutter technology and 3 fps acquisition speed, the RedEdge-P delivers precise and consistent data for NDVI, NDRE and other critical vegetation indices. The system integrates DLS2 for automatic radiometric calibration and supports CFexpress storage for continuous professional operations. What is the main difference compared to the RedEdge-MX?
The RedEdge-P offers double resolution thanks to the 5.1MP panchromatic sensor which enables pan-sharpening up to 2cm per pixel, versus 4cm for the RedEdge-MX. It also includes CFexpress storage and acquisition speeds up to 3fps.
Is it compatible with all DJI drones?
The RedEdge-P is perfectly compatible with DJI Matrice 350 RTK via DJI SkyPort. It is also compatible with other multirotor and fixed-wing platforms via standard interfaces.
What software is supported for processing?
The RedEdge-P is compatible with Pix4D, Agisoft Metashape, MicaSense Atlas and other professional photogrammetry software. Data is exported in DNG raw format for maximum flexibility.
How does radiometric calibration work?
The system integrates a DLS2 sensor to automatically measure irradiance and solar angle, plus a reflectance panel for pre-flight calibration. This ensures radiometrically accurate and temporally comparable data.
Can I expand the system with more cameras?
Yes, the RedEdge-P supports dual configurations (up to 10 bands) and triple configurations (up to 15 bands) using RedEdge-P Blue and Green variants for advanced research applications.
What vegetation indices can I calculate?
The five spectral bands allow you to calculate all major indices: NDVI, NDRE, OSAVI, CIR, LAI, plus RGB maps and custom analysis for your specific applications.
