Which flight controllers and GCS is it compatible with?
The Smart Controller 7 runs on Android 13 and is compatible with main ground control stations: Mission Planner, QGroundControl, ArduPilot, PX4 and any GCS available on Play Store. The air unit communicates via UART/UDP datalink with the flight controller’s telemetry port. The SDK is open for custom development. The S.Bus 16-channel and PWM 5-channel output is compatible with all main FCs (Cube, Pixhawk, ArduPilot, PX4-based).
What is the actual operational range in typical conditions?
The declared ranges refer to specific conditions: 3–6 km in agricultural use (3–6m altitude, high interference), 10–15 km in rural area (120m altitude, medium interference), 30–40 km on open sea (150m altitude, low interference). In urban environments with high density of 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks, the range is reduced. The 4G SIM slot allows maintaining telemetry and streaming connectivity even outside the radio link range.
Does the air unit support voltages other than 12V?
Yes. The air unit has a very wide power range: 12–76 V via XT30 connector. This covers batteries from 4S (14.8V) up to 16S (59.2V) and beyond, making the air unit compatible with the vast majority of professional multirotor and fixed-wing drones in production.
Can an RTK module be used with this controller?
Yes. The controller includes a dedicated USB-A for RTK modules, compatible with main differential correction modules. The integrated GNSS in the ground unit (GPS / GLONASS / BeiDou / Galileo / QZSS) also supports the pilot positioning function for relative drone-pilot calculation.
Is the screen really readable under the sun?
Yes. The 1600 nits brightness is about 3 times higher than that of a standard smartphone and is expressly designed for visibility in full sunlight. It is possible to operate outdoors without the use of sun shades or additional covers, maintaining sharp reading of maps, FPV and telemetry.
Are technical prerequisites required to use it?
Previous UAV piloting experience and familiarity with an Android-based GCS (Mission Planner, QGroundControl or equivalent) is recommended. For binding with open-source flight controllers and integration with custom drones, basic knowledge of S.Bus, PWM and UART telemetry protocols is useful.
