The DJI Matrice 400 smart winch with speaker (DB-SWS400) combines a 25 m winch, a 130 dB detachable speaker, an integrated microphone for two-way audio, an adjustable LED light, a strobe and wireless connectivity in one payload, controlled directly from DJI Pilot. It lets a crew lower supplies, talk to the person on the ground and light the scene without landing the aircraft.
DroneBase supplies, installs and configures the system on your Matrice 400 and trains your pilots on safe load-handling procedures.

What the Matrice 400 winch adds to your missions
A drone winch system solves a specific problem: getting an object to a precise point on the ground when the aircraft cannot or should not land. On the DJI Matrice 400, this payload adds the winch together with a drone winch with speaker setup, so the pilot can lower a load, explain to the recipient what to do with it and keep the area lit, all from the same flight.
How the DJI Matrice 400 smart winch works, step by step
A typical delivery without landing follows the same sequence every time. We recommend writing it into your operating procedures so every crew member knows who does what.
Prepare and attach the load
Check the load against the Matrice 400 payload capacity, secure it to the hook and verify the reading on the weighing module before take-off.
Fly to the target and hold
The pilot reaches the drop point and holds a hover above trees, rocks, water or structures, with the strobe on to make the aircraft visible.
Talk to the recipient
Through the 130 dB speaker the operator explains what is coming down; the microphone carries the reply back to the ground station.
Lower the load from DJI Pilot
The winch pays out the cable under control, with anti-tangle protection active. The LED lights the drop zone at night.
Release or retrieve
The load is released on the ground (controlled release) or the cable is rewound. In an abnormal situation the emergency release frees the aircraft from the load.
Confirm and return
The operator confirms receipt by voice, rewinds the cable and flies back.

DJI Matrice 400 smart winch specifications
Maximum winch load and payload weight are not listed here: the usable load depends on the Matrice 400 configuration, the batteries and the operating conditions. Contact us and we will confirm the figures for your setup.
What you get and what to pair it with
For a complete Matrice 400 delivery and rescue kit, operators usually add spare TB100 batteries and the BS100 battery station for fast turnaround in the field. When the load should travel closed and protected rather than on a hook, the D-Box Delivery Box for DJI Matrice 400 is the alternative. To protect the aircraft, see DJI Care Enterprise Plus for Matrice 400. If you plan to fly the winch together with other payloads, ask us to check the mounting configuration on your aircraft.
Operating a drone winch system safely
The DB-SWS400 includes several protections: real-time weighing with overload protection, the anti-tangle mechanism, controlled release and an emergency release for abnormal situations. Equipment alone does not make an operation safe, though. Define a drop zone that people can keep clear of, brief the recipient by voice before lowering, keep the cable away from power lines and rotors, and rehearse the emergency release procedure during training flights.
Dropping material from a drone is not permitted in the EASA Open category, so winch and delivery missions are normally planned outside it. In most cases the mission falls under the Specific category and needs an operational authorisation based on a risk assessment. DroneBase can help you define the operational scenario and the documentation; for operations in Italy, the application is filed with ENAC.

Smart winch with speaker for DJI Matrice 400
The DJI Matrice 400 smart winch with speaker (DB-SWS400) is a multifunction payload that brings six functions into one unit: a 25 m winch, a 130 dB detachable speaker, an integrated microphone for two-way audio up to 1,000 m, an adjustable LED, a strobe and wireless connectivity. Built on the DJI SDK, it is operated directly from DJI Pilot. The anti-tangle system, real-time weighing with overload protection and the emergency release make this matrice 400 winch suitable for delivery without landing in search and rescue, mountain rescue, offshore work, firefighting support and civil protection. Pair it with the DJI Matrice 400 and the D-Box Delivery Box to cover both open-hook and enclosed deliveries. DroneBase, an authorised DJI Enterprise dealer and system integrator certified ISO 9001:2015 and based in Italy, supplies the system with installation, training and technical support.
