Why use a delivery box for DJI Matrice 400
The Matrice 400 is DJI’s heavy-lift enterprise platform, with a maximum payload of 6 kg according to DJI specifications. The D-Box uses that capacity for logistics: a closed, protected cargo compartment that keeps the load inside the airframe envelope instead of hanging on a line.
Planning BVLOS missions with the DJI Matrice 400 delivery box
Most useful delivery routes are flown beyond visual line of sight. Under the EASA framework these flights normally fall in the Specific category and need an operational authorisation from the national aviation authority, based on a risk assessment (SORA) or, where applicable, a predefined risk assessment. The points below are what we review with every operator before the first flight.
A full D-Box weighs 6.0 kg (1.2 kg box plus 4.8 kg cargo), which matches the 6 kg maximum payload DJI states for the Matrice 400 at sea level. At full load, leave no margin for other payloads and expect reduced capacity at altitude and shorter flight time.
The D-Box opens manually, so every delivery ends with a landing at the destination. Each receiving point needs a defined, controlled landing area, a person trained to unload the box and a procedure for keeping bystanders clear.
